Naked Neck/Turken Thread

@igorsMistress I agree with @cactusrota that the chick appears to be a boy. I'm used to having mine in a brooder under the lamp to see by the coloring of the comb on these. They are easier for me to sex at this age than the Australorps were. Your's has a full crop, so it's been eating well. Yes, it has blue legs from the Breese side of it. He will probably grow up to look like Charley, but won't have those feathers on the neck!

@cactusrota I know that you like to have your's in all colors possible. Good luck, and it will be interesting to see what you end up with!

Ooohh! Slow feathering cockerel! He's gonna be neat looking when he grows up. And yes, those legs are a light blue. They may get darker as he gets older. <3

You think so? If so I'm going to hatch some eggs from the black girls I got from you last year and see what I get.

Yes it eats really well and LOVES fermented feed.
I'm better with behavior observation when they're young vs appearance but with just the one it's not as easy. I knew we had 2 roos with the Australorps that way before the black one started showing any boy traits physically.

Well, now you have you a clean necked NN roo to start your NN flock with. Your 2 NN hen's that you got from @cactusrota are black with white spots of feathering in them, aren't they? It should be interesting to see how any of those chicks would turn out!

I just gave some wet chick feed to mine awhile ago. I had a little of my batter left from the french toast that I made for breakfast, so I used it to wet the feed in a separate dish for them. Boy, are they going to town on it!

Yes'm, maybe. Although 3 chickens isn't quite the spread I'd like.
