I love it when they are insistent that they have a very expensive pure .... insert breed.... and they have a glorified mutt. Lol around here the folks get uppity about their araucanas that they got from Murdoch's.... yup EE muttsThank you, I belong to a group on FB called the Mohave County Cluckers, one of the ladies were asking about NN's, but didn't want Turkens, lol, was thinking it was the same darned thing, kinda like Bipolar, it use to be called Manic Depressive.
What makes you think the second one is a cockerel? Looks more like a pullet.View attachment 1836658 View attachment 1836659 View attachment 1836662 View attachment 1836662 of course both of these are starting to look like roosters.... sigh, at this rate I will have 15 turken roosters that I want to keep.
Comb is more pronounced in person. And just figure that's my luck they were hatched in may so I could be wrong (I hope I am).... time will tellWhat makes you think the second one is a cockerel? Looks more like a pullet.
My broodys tend to be a nuacince.... all setting and no hatching.... maybe I am doing something wrong?@aliciaplus3 , I can't say I giggle at it, as I am not familiar with "breeds" as some of you are.. I say flat out that I have mutts, lol, mutts are good things. I don't show them, I want them for eggs and company, later they will be eggs and meat. I like my sexlinks for layers, their good layers. The naked necks are a new thing for me, later I am considering silkies because they tend to go broody.. I've had my first broody and I kinda like that, I don't have to worry about keeping track of the incubator.

Ok so I felt the need to share, not near enough cute Nn pics here and some of you folks have some gorgeous birds.... just saying
Yeah I have had them trying since may.... silly girls keep trading off who is broodyI had 4 out of 8 Bresse/NN hens go broody this year, and a couple of them have gone broody a second time.
I have found that once the summer gets on, into June, the broodies have been less successful. Too hot.... way more eggs are dying and rotting halfway through incubation. More drama as some try to share eggs and the eggs get crushed from too many feet in the nest. Clutches hatched in April and May were the most successful.
