For me, I like the contrasting color of the darker leg's against the white feathering, and then throw in the red neck's on top of it and that to me is cool.

for me I ll working with 2 line .
line 1 pure NN with straight comb .and all sort of colour .I ll select for a bigger size .
my other line will be to add the NN gene to my Markeck chooks strain I m developping .I ll add rose comb too .the final product will be big chooks NN ,Rose comb .many colour and lay colourfull eggs all sort off colours . fun project .

I have the straight comb's. I have one NN/CCLB hen that lay's green egg's. She lay's better than her mother did, and the egg's are bigger, too. I'm breeding this hen back to my NN rooster. He's not her daddy.

I knew heat stresss but not improvement of breast size .
Male weight 3.9Kg
hen weight 3Kg
I wonder what I ll get if I cross my biggest marans hen 3.7Kg to my future cockerel { he has to hatch first and do a lot growing 5 months will be enough. should b good for the next breeding sason .
I start conting my chicken before they hatch .

I have one from this last spring hatch with legs that are white with blue speckles. Yes speckles on the legs. I need to get a good pic, but he's kinda fidgety...

I crossed in some dark cornish to improve breast size.... none of mine had great size there. I do love my birds with a double necked gene when it comes time to pluck.

this was s 5 year old hen. The scale is set to ounces. So a little over 4 pounds dressed, but look st all that smoth skin where there were No feathers!

I think I might have FINALLY convinced my DIL that Turkens are awesome. She may be taking up to 5 pullets off my hands. That would leave me with 1 each white, blue, red, black, and buff. I hope she takes them as layers

DD set up her black Nn breeding pen today. The idea is to set eggs for the new years hatch a long. We figured if it was set up now the hens would have plenty of time to accept the cockrel and she will hopefully get all the eggs she needs come second week of December.

she put both of the black Nn hens we have in as well as the blackish one. Then she added 2 black austolorp hens and 2 cuckoo marans cross hens. Last year we only had white Nn roosters and put them over the black austolorp hens... turns out white is pretty powerful, we got many more white Nn than black. Hope this year goes better.
