I love my NN’s. I have a beautiful rooster named Johnny. His crow sometimes has a Mexican roll on the end of it. I say he’s talking romantically to my hens.

I had one that rolled his crows like that. I called him El Gallo Oscuro.

One of the local feedstores had naked neck chicks the other day. They were so cute! Knowing nothing about the breed, I got 5 little polish chicks instead lol. Maybe I should go back lol.

I was really surprised to see them because Ive never seen any NNs around here before. We have one feed store in our city now that seems to be getting different chicks in once a week through November 1st. We used to only see chicks in the stores in the spring.
They had a huge gorgeous Polish rooster in a cage in the store to 'advertise' for the Polish chicks, I guess. I was so in love with him lol, I bought the 5 chicks. Now I wish I had got a few NNs too. I hope there's a few left.

About a week outside of the brooder, I noticed the different leg colors of my Naked Necks here. They are 1/4 Red Rangers with a Recessive White Pattern. about 8 weeks old in the picture.

I went back to that feed store today and got a Naked Neck chick! Its so cute, curious, and silly looking. I dont know the sex yet. I think its a week old and has its wing feathers. I got one of the smaller ones hoping it would be female lol. She's in with some silkie chicks I also picked up today. I will try to get a pic of her tomorrow.

Okay I got some pics of my NN baby. I also have some questions since I've never had this breed lol.
1. Will her neck get sunburnt? Im in FL so not worried about the cold so much but the sun can be intense. I give my chickens shade but am wondering if th NN breed gets neck burns lol.

2. Will other chickens peck her? Im thinking maybe if its female, I should keep her with my Silkies. They are more docile.

3. Will her neck skin become less translucent? Right now, I can see veins on her neck and crop. It seems like that would encourage other chicks to peck her there. Will they be less visible as she gets older? Right now they are under a red light but that will be gone pretty soon.

4. Are the NNs all this sweet and snuggly? lol
