Naked Neck/Turken Thread

You have to show us when the project is done! I've never seen large fowl cochins with naked necks.

I'll do it...

Edit.

it helps them alot down here in Central America where its ALWAYS HOT..!

It will help a lot! Where I am, the summers get very hot 110-120F(43-48.9C). I've lost big heavy birds to the heat(brahmas, the show stock Cornish, Marans roosters from some lines etc). Adding naked neck to them did help quite a lot with tolerance and survival through the summers.. Part of the reason I am sticking with naked necks- don't have to worry so much about them through the summers!

Are naked necks common in your country? I'm looking for extra reasons to visit Central America..

they are... and they tolerate the heat alot more not just because the have no feathers on the neck, they have Less feathers in the intire body, its part of the neked neck gene...

one of my favorite breeds , cold and heat hardy and so easy to improve with other breeds , and one of the best to play with colors. and they just seem to be naturally friendly , and im so glad to see that i am not the only one who has a love for them

Oh she had a strange looking hen mated to her blue NN roo. I'm all for hatching anything strange looking.

And the outcome was beautiful!

I agree!! Love the first bird. The head feathers look chocolate colored.
