Naked Neck/Turken Thread

yeah that's part of the problem- what if the seller is irresponsible etc and would reflect badly on me while I had absolutely nothing to do with it.

turns out 'picture stealing' is very common on ebay. posts about it on byc. it does bother me a little bit more that the person is actually a byc member.. will be civil, but still, c'mon. use your own pictures for your own auctions. give actual representation, y'know....

I have not even sold or sent anything to this person either so he doesn't even have blood from my birds in his stock.

I have seen that a lot recently, with people reporting others for stealing their pictures. Sorry you are going through this. I had even thought about buying some eggs because I thought it was you, but since they weren't bantam...I didn't put much thought into it. Glad I didn't buy...however I would've PM'd you here first though.

yes have the member's byc name and just sent messages both via ebay and PM in byc. are you sure about reporting in byc? assumed byc basically takes a neutral stand on issues between members.

aww that was nice. funny thing is, the picture IS of a bantam. sold to kkh on here.. I believe she gave the bantam pair to someone for breeding. if you're still interested, contact knock kneed hen as I don't have lav bantam turkens right now.

also. thanks so much to you and marlowmanor for the comments and advise.

You are welcome :) I have read that those who took up the issue with the Mods. were told to handle it themselves.

Thank you for the information. I may talk to KKH, but I was just wanting him to have some buddies. I don't suppose they have to be the same color...just thought when i saw that pic on Ebay that I would get some eggs since I thought it was you and they would have been the same color.

Your welcome. Hopefully you can resolve the issue peacefully. I'm not sure what the mods of BYC can do about the issue but it is worth a try.

I guess this is more of a reason for us to "watermark" each photo we post. My photo software only lets me put the copyright only on the bottom of the pic. I am looking for one that will let me put the watermark right across the bird. I think mine would be quite easy to "crop" out. Sad that people are so unethical. :(

I think you should contact him on his ebay site and tell him to pull the photo or you are going to report it. There is a place right on the auction to do so. They are very good about taking care of things like this. Good luck

contact to seller was sent, both via byc and ebay. did not report him yet, wanted to see if/how he would reply. Person has replied via ebay, was not rude, says won't use the pic again(he's leaving the current one up because someone already bid on it so he can't remove it?). their reasoning for using my pic- apparently he was sent the picture from someone he got the eggs from(it was not me- have not shipped any eggs in many years), so it seems person was using that pic to 'represent the stock'. I can see the reasoning but that might be missing the point of copyright infringement.

personally, i don't have a problem with anybody showing the picture.. gotta show them beauties... but to either claim as their own or especially to use in selling... not cool. it's totally hitting right at home why some pictures have watermarks or have name printed across the pictures. understood the concept already but seeing your own picture in some ad/auction brings a special kind of 'surprise' to oneself...

perhaps in the meanwhile, if your software allows you to put text anywhere in pic, use a bold color right across the middle or somewhere impossible to crop out.. I've seen pictures like that.

I remember very well your picture and that you posted it and know the bird from KKH. I know her flock and am in contact with her from time to time.

Kev since I have had trouble sending and receiving PMs please post here who that person is because I have been considering ordering eggs on occasion but it looks as if I'll get them from KKH. She doesn't mail out eggs either and in fact just sold her first dozen at the Norco meet. Is that person bargain because they live in GA run some seriously flawed buy sell auctions. Their pictures look OK but I am not sure about the rest of the deal ? This stinks and I am bothered by it.
