Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Speaking of little birds...
I just moved a homely little Naked Neck (NaNa) Green-Egger guy in with my 6 Serama hens. He is leaky splash (the male equivalent of what I called 'ginger splash') and the Serama hens are wheaten and barred wheaten.
He looked tiny out on the yard, but now looks BIG compared to the Ser' girls.
The chicks will be tiny, naked neck, blue-*something*, and possibly green-eggers : )
Edit: and a few groups of eggs will be available for S&H when the Ser' girls are laying again.

Backside of my little BB (Bare Bottom). She is my little 4 week old NN. She got so cold I had to put her back in the brooder with 1 week olds. Under those swooping feathers on the bottom of her back....she is bare bottomed. Noone ever replied about whether anyone had a pattern for chicken outfits! LOL
Does she have double dose of the frizzle? So cute.. Mine were naked like this (the girls) for quite some time. They looked ridiculous! But not this naked.
No, just one copy from 'Frizzle x smooth' mating.

NaNa means pure for naked neck.  There's a visible difference between birds pure(NaNa) and not pure(Nana) for naked neck.

Is she pea combed? If so, she has three things going on- pure for naked neck plus pea comb also reduces the overall number of feathers so this makes them 'more naked' or less feathered plus frizzle is not good at insulating.  If she is going to be smaller than usual that can be another thing as smaller bodies have a harder time retaining heat than larger, heavier bodies.

aoxa asked good question-  birds pure for frizzle gene are called 'frazzles' and their feathers are even more affected also essentially makes them even less insulated.  Frazzles are the reason two frizzles should never be bred together, only frizzle to a straight feather.

Yes, thanks for explaining it so well : )

Anyone raise white naked neck bantams willing to sell eggs?
Not me but maybe some one on here has some eggs for you. A lot of us here like to mix up our flock but try Nava and I think I have seen afew pictures here or there. Good luck in you quest.

Wow, that's gigantic comb for that kind of mix. Thought Jap was a possibilty due to that comb size as combs can get large on Jap roos.

Yea he needs to be bred to continue a line of birds like him. Thinking of serama hens too? people have occasionally asked about breeding NN with seramas on here and elsewhere, he seems small enough to breed with them naturally.
i have him with a oegb hen and two serama hens will see what they produce i do like his color and his tail is nice aswell the person that sold him to me does have hens but wont sell at the moment because they have chicks and will let me know when he does sell
