To what End ? lets say someone has the best SOP Chicken, then what. ?

what's the reward.

just trying to understand.

I do not show chickens so do not know if the reward is just bragging rights or if there is some monetary reward.

If you intend to show your chickens SOP will have to be your "bible", I thought that was what you were asking about this entire time????

When you order chickens directly from a hatchery you can order PULLETS only. It cost more but it is worth it if you do not want to be bothered with cockerels. Hatcheries usually know how to tell the males from females. Not perfect but usually fairly good results.

Also there are some breeds which are very easy to determine sex. One of those is Welsummer and another is Barred Rock and Dominque. It takes years and lots of reading to learn all about this stuff just like anything that is new to you.

Go to youtube and search for sexing chickens - a dirty job. The man goes to McMurray's and learns how to feather sex chickens. It is very interesting. Warning......it doesn't work for mixed breeds....I have roosters to show for that fact! LOL

I'm assuming if the Grand Canyon is closed so are the other National Parks. When we were in AZ we found a book that had foot by foot locations across the state that had public lands where you could rock hound for rocks, gems, minerals in those areas for free. It is called "Gem Trails of Arizona" by James R. Mitchell, it was awesome. We used it to find our own petrified wood, not in the park but across the road from the park and on public lands. We would have searched for other gems, minerals, and crystals but didn't know about this until our vacation was nearly over.

What to do in the state.

i use to live there before i moved to PR there is a little town called oatman city where you can feed the roaming donkeys that raom around the streets and they will walk right up to you. they also have a mini gun show and they have little buisness where you can buy gifts. they also an old jail building and some other old things that you can tour too. most people just walk through the whole town and you dont need to pay to go there. idk where you are in AZ but from the grand canyon to oatman it is around 3 hours. here are some pictures of the place
