Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Hatch is officially complete. 30 in 28 past lock down, 26 hatched one died just after hatch. so 25 live healthy perky little chickie doos. The two that didn't hatch past lockdown I didn't think were good at candling, but gave them the benefit of a doubt. Everyone is resting in the brooder, later tonight I'll try and get some pics, they are resting now.

Cute chicks!
If you don't *see* naked on the neck, then they didn't inherit the gene for Naked Neck AT ALL and can't carry it.

You could use the feather neck reds to cross back to birds that HAVE a naked neck and get naked necks. The percentages would be the same as if you were crossing out to a Rhode Island Red or other feather neck breed.
Yeah, I was scratching my head when he told me that too.. I think he just threw in some RIR lol

Cool chicks!

Yes we are keeping some of the females, not sure yet which ones or how many though. I told my husband the bad part about hatching out such cuties is eventually the "deed" has to be done!!!
