Naked Neck/Turken Thread

My black pullet has a few white tips in her chest and the few in her wings. The amount of white in her chest had greatly lessened so I hope it disappears completely with the molt. I found a post on here I think from last year where a person was selling all sorts of Turken bantams. I found his/her page on Fb and sent a message. I only show at my county fair and I know our judge does not like turkens so it's really just for the pleasure of raising a fairly unigue bird. I am considering ordering more bantam turkens from Dunlap next spring but who knows what I'll get. I'll look up the person you mentioned. Thanks

Sounds like a normal black, it's not uncommon for black chicks from black breeds to have some white in their wings and breasts as chicks. Normally they disappear once they hit their adult molt.

It is silly how some people are about turkens. So what if they have a naked neck.. besides some people reacting badly to them should take a look in mirror......

Everybody on here would love pictures. btw wish I could help however my bantams are silver laced and no rooster...

Just wanted to post a few updated pics of the NN we got from Nava.

Would like to 'recreate' the old naked neck I had years ago. I'm pretty sure he was a Cornish cross since he was short and wide with a pea comb lol I so regret selling him!!! I'm ordering Cornish and naked necks from cackle hatchery and was wondering if it mattered if I used a naked neck rooster over Cornish hens or vise versa? I was thinking naked neck roo over Cornish hens since the Cornish roosters may have trouble being so wide....

It doesn't matter which breed is which parent. Do both ways if you can?

Hatchery stock cornish don't have breeding problems. It's show stock that can have problems breeding.. they are twice or thrice as massive as hatchery stock. Also the problem with some show stock is the legs are so short. Most hatchery stock have legs that would be considered way too long for show but they have a much easier time breeding.

Don't forget to watch Larry the Cable Guy...."Only in America" tonight. He is going to visit Cackle's Hatchery. Should be fun.

That is where I got me gold and silver wyandottes from so I will be watching!!!!
