Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I believe animals have feelings and perhaps he was missing his old home. Call it weird, but I know that after a bear broke in my chicken coop and killed 5 chickens and a duck, those chickens did not return to their roosts for days! We had to go search for them and carry them back in. We finally had to keep them in for a few days to get them to feel safe again. They remembered and were afraid.

This one is Silkie, Cochin, D'Uccles AND NN.

I am soooooooooo sad!!!! I was going to start an EE program with an Araucana Roo and my NN's I have had him for a few days and now he is not well!! We got a Roo last week and have kept him in a giant dog crate. All seemed well until today. Though my little one said different. Yesterday we let him out in the run with the others for like 5 minutes and we found out he could FLY WELL!!. After we got him back we put him back in the crate for the rest of the day. I did my homework on clipping wings and this morning first thing we did the deed. again all seemed well. then I noticed he did not have as much fight in him as he did yesterday. so I put him back in the crate. That is when I noticed he looked listless and tired. He kept standing on the roost and closing his eyes. I also noticed a Yellow poo in the crate. .we moved him away from all the others and now he just stands there and does nothing unless you go after him. Here are a few pics of the lase two poos he had a few minutes apart. I Hope someone can help with this. SOON.

He looks so pitiful.

I started him on Corid Liquid 2 tsp. per gal about 2 hours ago. Any other Ideas would be great or my EE-NN program is as dead as he is and That would be as sad as losing him. He has become a family fav real fast and we would hate to lose him.
I can't tell from the pic if he is a NN

Dang it it won't let me erase that! I hit the wrong button grrrr. Anyway what I was going to say is... Add some electrolytes to its water and some apple cider vinegar, also give him a clove of garlic and some hot sauce if he won't eat the garlic add it in powder form to his water with the hot sauce and vinegar and drop it into his mouth with a kitten feeding dropper and do this three times a day with the full dropper... For about a week! I had this with my one roo cleared him rite up.

I don,t want to jinx it but. yesterday I was giving him Corid Liquid. 2 tsp per gal. We had to use a dropper and I was giving him about 15 ml per hour. Then at about 5:30pm someone told me to add it to some food. Well after a few minutes he destroyed the wet food. I then decided to try the crumble dry. He went to town on that too. That is when I started to get a bit more optimistic. I had to work last night and read the gloom and doom posts. I will admit that is what I thought too but had to do all I could with the kids worried and crying. It was love at first site wit him. Well, when I got home from work I found him, Crowing!!!!

Also there is formed poo in the crate. Mostly pail green and white but since I have been home he has had what looks like a normal Ceacal poo. I am going to continue with the treatment for the full 5 days and keep him away from every one for a while until I am sure He is fine. But thing seem to be looking up. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!. Thank you for all your support and keep your fingers crossed!

[/quote Hi, I am glad your Roo is doing better. I was doing some research on the color of poo from birds. It was saying birds with runny green poo could be stressed or their food is not digesting well. Idk if you give him grit or not but it was saying the kidney could be having issues help with the digestion of somthing he ate. Also causing stress on him. I read were tou said he was finally having a formed poo with white it said white is a healthy poo. Birds form round poos with white on top. It sounds like what you ate doing is working and it is helping him feel better. I just wanted you to know I was looking and researching for you. I know if my Roo was sick I would be beside myself!! I love Lewis and My daughter is attched to all her birds! I hope I helped a bit with that information. Good luck
