Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Stopping by to say hello. This are two of my NN children from this year's hatch. Unfortunately, they have vulture hocks and will eventually be culled. But I'm still in there swinging, even if it's just barely. Primarily interested in breeding any and all NNs with black skin.

Well, looks like I'll be making a call to the feed mill. They get their chicks as a 'end of day' deal from the hatcheries w/whatever didn't sell that day. I've been looking for forever and there just isn't anyone willing to sell any NN's. Doesn't matter if it's eggs, chicks, POL, or established breeding pairs. Just can't find 'em anywhere....

Maybe you could order NN from a on-line hatchery. My first NN were from one of the big hatcheries and they were very nice

I think us sun lovers (southerners) keep more NN then you northerners.

If your just wanting regular NN the hatcheries would be the easiest, least expensive way.

Nava I think sells day olds, and dipsy too I think they have some really pretty ones, don't know if they have a waiting list or not or if they are "out of season" you could pm either one of them. There may be others on this thread too, if there is I don't mean to slight any of you by not mentioning, these are the only two I remember seeing.

Hatching eggs shipped are a huge gamble, but if you want anything really different that may be a way to go.

What exactly are you looking for and how many?

I could Let go of a few pullets, I have never shipped older birds but I can try, or if you want I can hatch some day olds and sent them, I just hatch in spring

And after that only hatch up on request

I don't do eggs do to the way they get handled before you get them.

Ugh! Just spent the whole afternoon digging and planting a new flower bed (Azaleas, since my chickens have eaten every flower in my yard!). Came in to eat dinner and then looked out my window to admire my flower bed. Ummmmm, what flower bed?!?!?! The chickens have successfully annihilated the whole thing in what, 30 minutes!? 4" of pine straw all over the yard, not one blade of monkey grass to be found! At least the azaleas are still there! OMG, I need an aspirin!
