I do not understand "light goes straight through" or "glows"

I'd say, do you have a roo?

Does he mount the hens?

Do the hens lay eggs?

Crack a random one, before scrambling it to eat, does the yolk have a bullseye?

Any negative answer above = not fertile.

Yea, I wrote my reply which included all of that. It was just funny that some people would think the inside of a fertile egg would glow! LOL

Im partial to the middle one...this was supposed to be a reply to a group of three roos. a gray frizzle on top, but I like the middle one pictured better.

It's about that time of year to order chicks now for spring delivery.. Anyone ordered/ordering more NN chicks? I placed my order from a master breeder and judge to get more red NN's, BA's, I am going to try something new this year and get some Black Ameraucanas I don't attend breeding them just keep the hens and eat the roosters.

Not ordering chicks, but will be hatching lots (again).

Good luck with your new project.

I found 2 young cocks I like and they will be here in time to cover a few NN hens. It requires a bit of a road trip but I hope they are worth the time and effort.

Likely an odd proposition by most bird breeding standards. They will cost me more than I ever wanted to pay for chickens of any kind but if they fail to provide fertile eggs, they will cost nothing. It's a gamble for both parties in my opinion...there is no guarantee that they will pass on what I need from them, only that they can do the job.

No real gurantees in life.

I suppose such 'gentlemen's agreements' are more rare than hen's teeth.

Incidentally, the other 'gentleman' in this deal is a very nice woman.

I got a pair of unanticipated NNs from my NYD hatch! Turns out the day the meat roosters got in to the laying flock they had more fun in a shorter amount of time than I expected LOL!

They really are two separate chicks LOL! They are almost identical in size, shape, and the white markings on their wings.
