Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I think I found my answer

Traits
Weight Male: Standard: 3.9 kg
Bantam 965 g[1]
Female: Standard: 3 kg
Bantam 850 g[1]
Skin color yellow
Egg color light brown
Comb type single
Classification

3.9 x 2.2 = 8.58 lbs? Rooster

3 x 2.2 = 6.6 lbs? Hen

Bought this pretty little naked neck bantam hen the other day. I would really like to get into breeding naked neck oegb. Anyone have an opinion on what color oegb roo I should breed her to to get started? She's all white with just a brush of grey on the top of her head

Personally I would stick with the White.

I would go with another bantam NN though, you'll loose the NN type with Game Chickens.

Does anyone here know if they would do well in colder weather like say WA state weather? I have a EE/NN/feral game mix and I'm wondering if I moved up north and took him/her with me if he/she would be alright? He/she has a pea comb but seems a tiny bit lighter in body than pure NNs.

There is a guy in Maine that raises Madagascars. It gets really cold there. He said he has been raising them for 3 years now and has not lost a single bird to the cold. So I would say Naked Necks should take the cold pretty good as long as you keep them out of the wind.

Thank you for the response :) gives me hope.

This is the sire of

This one. 17 weeks old on May 1st. His mother was a Golden Cuckoo crossbred hen that I owned at one time. Sorry I have no picture of her.

I hadn't planned on keeping anything rooster wise with barring in him. His daddy died suddenly and I had no other replacement from him so this is it. Other than the coloring I think he is turning out pretty good.

Not really thinking about the cross when I done it, it was a sex link cross. To me he looks like the coloring of a typical Black Sex Link rooster.
So I now have a question. About what percentage of his his will be barred or some kind of barring? I'm guessing about 1/4 to 1/2.

, Just sooooo ,

Ya gotta "create" your own breed, find some tiny bird, Serama or Silver Seabright and believe it or not a full size NN rooster. Yes the little bantam will tolerate being bred by a big rooster.
