Naked Neck/Turken Thread

It could be. Sometimes when you see the I. Personal. You see things that aren't see able in pictures. I think mine had a little more silver white over his back and saddle area..
He's not a "pure" version of birchen like this guy

Not that he is "pure" none of my chickens are pure anything except chicken! lol but he shows the birchen "purer" then the other boy. .............................................. Or it is entirely possible Kev will come on and say the genetic reason I am all mistaken! lol lol lol

My latest hatch is now edging into being 1 week old....and I have a favorite. This little one is the love child of my favorite NN pullet and cockerel, and seems to have the best attributes of each one's personality, and with an 80% growth rate in this first week he's doing really well. Right now I'm thinking this will be a cockerel, and if so I think he'll make his daddy proud.

@DesertChic - You had Bielefelder - Naked Neck crosses, correct? Were you pleased with the results? (Or otherwise pleased with the Bielefelders?) I seem to recall you posting about them somewhere... Did you get them from Greenfire?

Sorry - another question. Has anyone crossed Naked Necks and Speckled Sussex? My local feed store has Speckled Sussex and Chicken Math is gnawing at my heels. I'm thinking it would be a better size-increase cross (now that I have decided that a New Hampshire NN cross won't be a good idea, at least with the NHs I have).

I did the Sussex cross, but I didn't grow them out (sold all the chicks).

Curious, where did the sussex come from and were they heavy/meaty?

I've seen only a very few speckleds in person, all hatchery stock and to my eyes they were tall but also slender. The silver sussex(not hatchery stock) I had were far, far taller and heavier. Heavier than Marans, easily.

A few pics from today ................................................ well, okay, maybe a little more then a few Phyllis w/ her sister (:fl ) behind her and Rudy photo bombing The FM boy Even new clothes need preening The matching pants didn't fit. Phyllis in her dots' A better pic of the three colored girl, is there mottling in there??? The surviving baby of the last preditor that got the broody mom and her hatch mate One of the up and coming boys Couple of girls This is my first boy w/ a top knot One of my favorite girls, she is larger then most of my hens and very dark fm The colors of this boy didn't show well Rtip, Qtip's clone This up and coming boy is beautiful, but on the small side.
Oh Kassaundra, why do you have so perfect chickens?!? Phyllis in her dots is one of the cutest things ever. And the name fits her perfect. When I heard that Qtip was no longer I was happy to hear about Rtip. I fell in love with Qtip when I first saw her and I won't forget her. I have to ask, do I see a few "Jaxoms"? I think few of your roosters are very similar to him.

He looks like a chocolate. Do you know how will he feather out?
