Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Yes, I know that fm "fades" away and that is bad. I also like these slchickens like this rooster that don't have black skin but this dark red, exotic color, I think they are beautiful too.

Do you think it's possible to get at least something like this on mottled?

And to say what my family thinks about fm- my mother gave legs of one black hen to dog, because it's too much for her. I don't even want to know what would be her reaction to whole black chicken- or do I?!?

why don't you buy an ayam cemani for your mother's birthday?

Mottle can go on pretty much any color.. mottle over other colors and patterns, including similar to my rooster is pretty common in the game chickens. They can be pretty flashy.

It seems there is a slight trend right now for breeding mottle into lavender birds. I see questions and breeding plans for this showing up here and there on byc.

I've brought a FM carcass to a Halloween party.. was a big hit. Well every one looked at and talked about it.. but almost all of them would either not even try or just took one bite. So silly.

Then there was a second flurry of attention when the bones were exposed... I wonder if the bones would keep their color if they were cleaned and dried out for display?

That could make for an awesome Halloween decoration!

They stay black when cooked so I bet they would.

That's true, I was wondering if it fades or turns brownish after drying out or there was something else I'm not aware of.

btw- have you noticed some with a purple sheen over the black bones? It's interesting how even the shade of the bones varies from bird to bird.. some are just greyish, some very black, and then some very black with the shiny purple cast. It's also fascinating how some light skins still have pretty dark bones.

In my opinion, svart honas are way more beautiful then cemani. Is there any other difference other then body type?
