Surprised at the pure whites, looks like cackle does some of their own NN breeding as they look slightly different from the typical hatchery NN. The white rooster looks so proud and handsome.

The few Cackle NNs I kept for breeding. Just a few, will be plenty in the spring though. See what they hatch out

Nice looking bunch of NN's. How old are they now? They look pretty big for hatchery birds, what I'm thinking their age is. Mine weren't bad but they weren't real big either.

I only got two out of 15.You got those from Cackle? Even the white ones? If I had known I could get white from them I probably would've ordered some. It would have eliminated at least one project from my never-ending-always-changing-wouldn't-it-be-cool-if...list.
Got them May 21, I know that much, so I think 19 weeks?Nice looking bunch of NN's. How old are they now? They look pretty big for hatchery birds, what I'm thinking their age is. Mine weren't bad but they weren't real big either.
Half of mine were not big out of 15. why I decided to cull the majority, a few pullets were very small compared to the cockerels. I culled all with big bow ties on the pullets cutting it down to the only two on coloreds that had no bow tie, a couple red buffs had size, maybe bigger than the two I kept, but huge bow ties, a few pullets had puny little tiny necks and not very big on body. Didn't weigh them, you could see it, very small. I had a couple black roosters (pure black but last wing feather white...) that were as big as the red black that I kept, real nice size, just liked him better. My cackle NN's aren't that big. My hens are about half again as big as my banty NN I got locally.
Wow, lovely birds! It's definitely re-assuring to see that the Cackle NNs grow up to be of nice quality. How are their temperament?
Never had them before, seem alright so far. The pullets really calm not 'flighty' at all. The red black cockerel did go after my four yr old the other day, not uncommon for hatchery birds, they don't breed for temperament. It was a hit, and run, so can't say bad yet on him, wasn't aggressive, just wasn't happy with that. Time will tell. I'm a little shell shocked by a favorite hatchery Wellsummer rooster I had a few yrs ago, loved the guy, kids loved him, turned out to be a man killer. Swore off buying hatchery birds after him. This instance of aggressiveness I can forgive if it is the only one, see what happens down the road. Under the circumstances of trying to wrangle the whole flock back into the coop when they ALL escaped and having no help, and enlisting the 4yr old boy to cut off them at the flank and round them back around, little guy did a great job and we got them back in, he was slightly wounded in the struggle by the errant cockerel, held them up like a trooper though!!!

Wasn't going to keep the whites initially, already have white birds with the white giants, I actually prefer colored birds, just really love my white giant's, changed my mind when I realized how nice they looked and had thought they would probably be the best for a cross with cornishX. The pullet looks real promising on size compared to the rest of the pullets, she had the best size of all the pullets, the cockerel probably was the smallest of the cockerels but I agree, looks real proud, puffs his chest out nice and has nice legs, great body shape, almost game bird like, just not as big as the others.

Yeah white is good for clear skin, too many people are bothered by color on the skin, shrug,,,
