Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Those are not even my favorites. Lol I am impatiently waiting on my white Plymouth rock to start laying. View attachment 1936816 one of my favorite roosters big boy and a Delaware hen. He weighed in at 5 pounds at 12 weeksView attachment 1936817 his half brother blue foot and his girlfriends. He is Big... never remembered to get weights on him but he makes nice babies. His comb got a little frost bite but otherwise s great rooster for making Nn meat birds, in my opinion anyway.

he is really big ,well chunky .love his head and comb after a frost bite. suit him better in my opinion .

how heavy are your roosters? or cockerels?
what varieties are you working on ?

I just finish hatching babies from the Nn blue foot and my red broiler girls... I am hopeful they will grow well.

these are the parents. My girl baby is one of my favorites she is the splash in front. The next 2 cockrels are hatched out of baby and my Delaware mix Big Boy. I need to get weights but I am pretty sure they are close to my goal of 5 pounds st 12 weeks.

my 2 main roosters are half brothers both out of a Large white rooster I was gifted several years ago. One is big boy my Delaware cross the other is blue foot my Big Nn boy.
One day I will get both boys to hold still for a weigh in but now I can only guess both are 9 pounds or better.
I have high hopes of maintaining the size and decent egg numbers going forward.
I plan to maintain several different lines, one for green eggs, one for necked necks as well as continuing to work on my Delaware. So many directions so little time

Just a random picture of my integration brooder after I opened it up yesterday, they are slowly working their way out of it into a general population. There are about 5 or 6 Naked Necks in there but only one clearly in the picture although you can partially see the heads of 2 others.

I love your Nn! I know I will be working with a Lot of white Nn and one of my goals is to get cleaner necks over the next year. I love my boy blue foot and he spears to be dominate white so? I guess we will run with a white line. My DD is still in love with the black NN so in the next week she will be selecting her breeders for the new years hatch! She is making the choices this year so we will see how they turn out, but it's time to get em In a breeding pen.

all the white in my Naked Necks are Recessive white, I started out with one Recessive White Rooster whose father or grandfather was a Grand Champion or something... the lady who sold him to me told me this AFTER I paid for it so it wasn't some sort of sales BS. She sold him for $5 because she had too many roosters and the deal was I could I not eat him so I told her I planned to eat his children and she said that was OK. When I bred him what ever pattern the hen had the offspring would have but if I bred the offspring back to the Rooster half came out fully white and the other half came out the color of the Mother. I have one Recessive White clean necked girl and I will be hatching all her eggs with the patriarch and create a large flock of Clean Necked Recessive whites.

You didn't derail. Why can't people have a convo? I know, there are some folks who have a fit over stuff like that :smack
