Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Anyone have good luck getting NNs to go broody? They're building a clutch (yes, I'm the type who leaves eggs until they sit or get thrown out) but so far not too interested. I'm getting conflicting info on if they're likely to brood, but mine are hatchery stock anyways

Not all breed's are known for going broody. If you are wanting a broody then you should look into getting a breed of hen's that are more likely to go broody.

@JacinLarkwell I recently re-homed a NN/White Breese mix hen to someone. She went broody on me 2 time's last year, and 2 times already this year.

I've got plenty that go broody reliably, I was just curious about NNs. Some people say they're not broody at all and some say that they're pretty reliable to go broody

Maybe that might have something to do with what breed or breed's that they crossed their NN's with?

Are you going to breed the 2 chick's that have the Nn gene back to a NN?

I don’t think any of my current chickens are NN because they all have bibs. I don’t see many of the true NN around but who knows what chickens I’ll end up with next season.

one of my Nn hens got broody when she was 3 yo. she didn't like to be moved to a protected place and gave it up. she never got broody again but she still lays eggs. she is 5 yo.

Really hard to get a good picture but this chick looks to be developing a calico barring/lacing pattern which is exciting!
