Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I would put them in at night... after having them in quarantine for a few weeks first, of course.
Good luck with your new NN Hens! :)

just got home......... got three new NN hens 1 year olds. No true bare necks. Two have pretty full bowties and one has just one feather on the side. I went for just the better, healthier looking one versus the bare necks. Two are reds and one is black. Question, should I go ahead and put them in at night or do it in the day light. Someone told me one time it is easier in the dark. They just wake up and do their thing. I know this can sometimes get brutal. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the advice. Do you really quarantine for three weeks. I have always just done a few days. Not saying you are wrong. It is me that is probably wrong. I am new to the whole chicken thing.

Just read your most recent post. I changed my mind about the eggs due to the full feather bows.............

Isolation can you place them within sight of your flock. When you put them in with the other at least they will be some what familiar. In my experience there is always of bit of pecking but if you add at least three new birds at a time the problems seems much less and last not so long. But of course this is just my experience. And now just as I have heard other say........I play musical pens and move them around in multiples just to keep they adjusted to making occasional changes.

Very nice. Well I am not good at sexing but my guess is male based on reddened comb at three weeks.

Thank you! That is what I was thinking and I asked a few pages back without a pic and was told since it was red this early that most likely it was a boy. I just wanted to put up a pic for more thoughts. I also don't know what color, because at first I was told he looked like a splash, with his first baby picture, but there isn't any black. So, is he a diluted splash?

Yes, I would absolutely quarantine. For me, better safe than sorry. :)
