Actually I dont care what he is as long as he produces pullets that lay colored eggs! what do you think?

I'm just wondering what he was sold to you as? And do you know the other breeds in the flock he came from? Can you tell from the sellers old postings perhaps?

She posted numerous ads and sold ALOT of eggs on BYC...Funny thing is when I did ask her way back when she said half the sutff I asked about-she didnt have?? Weird since I know I read it and ordered them because of it-then poof! Ad was gone?? I did find a few threads about them but the ones in that thread only had a few of what was originally was offered. I even asked specifically NOT to get a duck egg-and she said not to worry-her ducks weren't laying anyway..Welll I have a duck now and when I mailed pictures to her asking what breed it was. She said it was impossible that that egg came from her as she didnt have that breed! OK I ordered all silkies-40+ from 4 numerous BYCers and the rest from her...I know that honking egg came from her. I have given up on what she had now-too frutrated I guess. But I guess in time ( by next year) I should be able to tell if it does have a colored egg gene:) If God graces me with pullets and not all roos again!!!

If you're wanting a coloured egg layer, wouldn't it be easier to just buy an EE pullet? You could be waiting for that cockerel to mature, then waiting for his offspring to mature, feeding them all that time, only to find out he might not have had the blue egg gene after all.

If the vendor is as vague as they seem to be, there's every chance their ameraucanas are really EEs.

Haha I know..I do have Amaracaunas and EE's hens-7 of them. I just wasted sure about keeping the roo. I like him -he is gentle-doesnt attack me. He will produce beautiful chicks regardless of the colored egg gene-so Im keeping him. I have OCD when it comes to chickens and want to know NOW NOW NOW not in a year is all:)

He is an attractive looking male, with striking colour. I've found males of both Faverolles & Dorkings very mellow & personable. He ought to give you some fun offspring.

Although I have no idea what your Cockeral is may I add that the Lincolnshire Buff also has 5 toes, however this breed is not recognised, although it has a documented history.

This is taken from the Lincolnshire buff society.

A dual purpose utility breed found mainly in its native Lincolnshire. During the 19th and early 20th Century, it was supplied in vast numbers to the London markets as a white fleshed table bird and was widely sold as a good winter layer. Standardisation of the Buff Orpington, which many at the time considered a refined Lincolnshire Buff, lead to its demise in name by the 1920's, although its genetic material still lived on in the Oprington, albeit in a much modified form. In the 1980's, the breed was redeveloped in Lincolnshire using this genetic material, with the addition of that of the Cochin and Dorking.
