My RIR is pretty quiet

My Buff Plymouth Rocks and Partridge Plymouth Rock are very quiet. My Barred Plymouth rock is mind-numbingly loud... she's the alpha that might be why. She was my favorite, but she's been really getting on my nerves bawk-bawk-BAAWWWKing all day long. My Light Brahmas can be quiet, but they get going with the Barred, at least one maybe two of them. The third one is always quiet. My silkies (buff and white) are almost always quiet.

There needs to be a sub category for the egg song. That is the only time mine get loud some times I run out to see who is dying but it is just the egg song. For a prey animal it doesn't make some to announce, " I layed food here, over here, here, here, come and get it."

Yamato gunkei are by far the quietest breed I've encountered. The roosters rarely crow, and the hens rarely vocalize.
