Aw, Buck Buck is a pretty girl! I started off with two ducks for my first time ever having them, and when I let my hen sit on a nest, I had plans to name ALL 20+ babies lol. Never happened...Though I have named my favorites.
I did not want to name our Ducks! I did not want to get too close to them, they are just poultry, farm animals, egg-layers and finally soup or roast duck. - So i thought!
Then came that Sunday when our smallest duckling suddenly died of hypothermia.
Then came that Friday evening when one of our Ducks suddenly went lame.
I had to care for the »lame duck« every day and he became our »Limpy« (and my avatar).
The other drake is kind of a bully with the girls (grab them by ...) and a bit dense, guess what: »Donald«!
One of the female ducks cared very much for »Limpy«, so she was named »Katharina«, after a nurse in a hospital back in Germany who cared very much for me when i was very sick a long time ago.
One of two remaining ducks is very, very curios. Whenever i do something in the yard, around the duck house or at the house »Curiosity« comes running to watch what that crazy "human" is doing.
Our last duck still has no name, if you don't consider »NoName« to be a name, but she has the loudest quack of all. She made me throw my screwdriver away when she suddenly "QUACK WACK WACK"ed behind me. But »Honky«? - Almost fell off the ladder!
