Nankin Discussion Thread

Pics
Oh I've had that article bookmarked for some time :). I am looking for the more detailed ABA standard. I know that "type" is more important than coloring, although the coloring is important too. I need more details on "type", if there are any.

Yeah, it seems like I found a site that listed exactly the ABA as published but it was some time ago. I will see if I can find it again.

No luck finding anything more definitive. I am curious as to the disqualifiers. I know white legs will disqualify in the US as will any black feather OTHER THAN in the wings and tail. Anything else?

I just found this thread, started my own 2012 Nankin Bantams, Was hard to find a Nankin group that was not years old, so I dated mine. I am just putting my flock together, two hatches so far gave me 5 chicks, bought a 6 month old rooster from Calif. I am in Roseburg, Oregon wanting to get at least 50 so I can be recognized by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (http://www.albc-usa.org/) as a breeder.I think these are the sweeties little birds, so personable. Welcome Rod and Carol, this thread has a small number of people involved but I do try to check in at least once a week.

I started with one roo then purchased two hens from different parents so I could breed the trio. We will never be recognized except at the local poultry shows (hehe). The kids at the local county fair all know our roo. Each year kids come into the poultry barn asking "Is Clyde here this year?" Yep he is famous in my own mind.
