Natural alternative to Tylan

Can you link some?
Yes. The study I was was just a brief snippet used in another article, but I'm sure I can find that full article out there somewhere. Let me see what I can find.
I'll start here. This article for dogs uses a study briefly to better explain the uses.
I believe the first item in the list is Oil of Oregano. My internet wont load the page though, so I can't see the whole article. Let me know if its the wrong source. :p

Thank you! It’s ironic that I just saw a comment about it on a Facebook chickens group. I will have to learn more and add it to my list of things to have on hand for first aid.
Neat! I think its a great great thing to have on hand. Doesn't kill the bacteria in the gut either, and is a natural immune booster. Its a good all around'er. ;)
Note that Oregano essential oil is different than oil of Oregano. Essential oil is a very high concentration of the oil, and isn't always safe. One of my friends says he used 1 drop in the mouth for exposure to sickness with no issues, but I personally wouldn't use the essential oil on myself, or my birds. Oil of Oregano capsules, and oil can be found at your local health food store. Thats were I buy it. :)

You might find this an interesting read -

of course, not all studies find beneficial results:

* Note, I am a firm believer in the old adage, "the dosage is the poison" - and not knowing how concentrated (or not) the essential elements of a given essential oil might be in a given batch of product, I do not make use of such "natural remedies" when products of known concetration and performance are readily available on the shelf.

However. I happen to enjoy rosemary, and oregano, in cooking. Both are quite hardy perennials in my growing Zone, and a constant presence in my garden. If the chickens want to eat some of the leaves growing thru the fencing that keeps them out of the garden, or pick woody stems bare when I prune them, I'm not opposed.

Heres another article- https://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/26/science/chicken-farms-try-oregano-as-antibiotic-substitute.html
Hope thats a good source. I tried to find a good one. :)
