Naturally hatched w/ mom until mom gave up on her: leg/foot issues

Ok so here's what I've noticed: I can bring the leg down or back like normal. Does seem a little tight or like not the range of motion like her good one. She doesn't seem to care about me moving it , does get pissy if I'm messing around for too long. She'd rather curl up in my hand. Seems like she'd rather lay down then scoot around on her curled foot. I still am not 100% if its a pulled tendon. I will be doing pictures of her legs after dinner, just here in a few.

I have cut some shoes out and grabbed tape and things. I've got some vet wrap , athletic tape , pipe cleaners.. actually just a crap ton of first aid stuff to make her new legs. Also stuff for a sling, chair thing if needed ..

So.. shoe on only bad foot or both? Should I wrap her whole bad leg before I do the hobble thing?

I wouldn't want to hurt her more.

I won't do any wrapping until I get a better look at her leg and feel around incase it got broken or something else weird

I'm thinking good news :celebrate I put her in the warm water pool let her swim then I started moving her leg. Pulled down, pulled back, tried mimicking her natural movement - gentle of course. I even opened her foot.. she's trying to use it!

It was not full movements but it was actual tiny movement that matched her other leg. Even tried to reach her leg up and itch face , got leg up but foot wasn't open. Makes me think nothings broken- just tight??

The only difference I see in her legs is the bad one looks swollen- can't tell or feel if a tendon is slipped. Will continue to feel it.

If you can get pics that will help a lot. Feel along the back of both legs so you can tell if there is any difference then the injured leg along the back you should feel if the tendon is out of place . If that’s the problem you’ll want to manuver it back In and try and keep it in. Sounds like she’s making progress. Shoe only on the curled foot . Not sure on hobbles till we can see some pics of the legs .

I managed to get these pictures. Not as easy as I thought getting the leg straight. I'm making a sling thing right now I'll post these and take the others. I'm aiming for front, back, inside, outside views of each leg as they're stretched out.

I did put simple tape shoes on today and it seems her *bend* in the ankle(??) Doesn't bend like the other one and definitely bigger than the good leg. Ok pix and more pix in a minute

Thank you!

Toe broken?

Tried a sling twice and can't figure it out. I used baby oil to remove tape and tried to get some pictures of the backside of her leg... struggling to say the least. I'm going to keep trying and I'll post them asap.. I'll post the few I took just now too

Inside that first toe.. look swollen or fat?

I'm super frustrated right now that I can't help her, can't get a sling figured out and that I can't find the problem :th

I'll keep trying though

When you look a both legs side by side are you seeing swelling on that leg and foot? I’d def keep the shoe on mike sure the foot is laying flat. As for the leg is there swelling at the knee behind the affected leg? Can you feel any difference between the two legs ? @casportpony may have more advise.

Good job taping the foot and I don't think the toe is broken, I think that is a result of her /him having a curled foot. Sometimes if we wait too long to tape them we can't tape them straight, but don't worry, she/he will be fine with a crooked toe.:D

You mentioned swelling. Where is the swelling?

Edited for spelling.

I finally got a picture of the back of the good leg... bear with me I don't know actual names/terms of duck anatomy .. I think her first bend right near her body -knee?- look to be the same size at least not enough for me to tell, I'll circle in blue.

Inbetween knee? and -ankle? Looks to be swollen on bad leg, at least bigger than good leg, I'll circle in red.

And i think her ankle and foot is bigger and tighter on bad leg. It doesn't flex as easily as good leg, or flatten.. i'll circle in purple

Hopefully with the colors you're able to understand what im saying?! Sorry :barnie

The bottom of bad foot looks weird/different to me, is that due to curl?
Her bad leg does not hang like the good one that's making it hard to take the pictures from straight behind.

Oh and when shes swimming she does small movements with bad leg but does not open foot. She can reach up to itch head but toes again wont open to scratch.

If I need anything specialized I'm heading into town now and will buy anything she needs tohelp her heal .. just let me know.

Thank you again for the help!
