I will have a chicken and a piggy at the NE OK CS, for the raffle and the pay the seller poultry sale. I will try to have some that are bagged and for sale where my chicken cages are set up. I'm using my hens as models. I'm still in the early stages of developing them. I'm taking photos, which I'll study and make drawings, and then I can sit down at my clay bench and make a few heads. The best will be made into a slip casting mold so that I can make lots of them without as much work. I'll post pictures as soon as I have a prototype.
On the pay the seller Poultry sale. Should we tell people to bring their own cages for transport home. I know some of the auctions do and some don't but I hate being out of the loop and not taking a cage and then needing one.
Yes. The pay the seller poultry sale requires people to bring cages to transport their purchased birds. I will remind, remind, remind, and remind some more when we get closer to the event date: June 16, 2012.
Here's how the sale will work:
At 11:00 cages of birds for the sale will be lined up: first come, first served.
At 12:00 Michael will start calling for bids. Helpers will place cages, one at a time, on the sale table during this part of the sale. People bid, someone wins, and the cage moves to the Pay Here table.
Whoever offers the highest bid walks to the Pay Here table, pays, and takes his or her bird. Birds move from seller to buyer as they are sold. People need to be told this before the sale, during the sale, and as often during the sale as necessary to keep the sell, pay, sell, pay, sell, pay flow happening.
This sounds so fun. Being new to the poultry hobby, currently guineas & ducks, thinking about adding a few chicken hens:cd. Will you allow other poultry other than chickens?

Absolutely! Just not the four-legged variety
I will be bringing hatching eggs for chickens and ducks, baby chickens and ducks, and some juvenile chickens and ducks. I expect we'll see guineas in several colors at this event. If you bring turkeys to sell, or any other bird that is really, really big, consider putting it in a cage that can go home with the buyer. Not many people bring a transport cage large enough to hold turkeys or geese.
Hey Poco, when you design a flyer or forward me a copy and I can hang a bunch up down South here and get a lot of general public involved. That way lots of folks can sell their crafts Birds Etc. If you are not planning on designing one, let me know what all you want it to say and I will make one up and print them!

You're hired! I now pronounce you flyer designer and distribution chief for South Oklahoma. Send me a copy before you have anything printed. Also, let me know the cost for printing. I want to reimburse you out of the money we take in from the raffle. I will work on a flyer for the NE and send you a copy before I have any printed. That way we can reuse the parts we like and discard parts that may not be what works best for our region.

Cool. I will start on it this weekend and we can add to it over the next couple of months as items for raffle and such are donated and we firm up more items. Do you have a specific Logo that you would like used?

I think we're calling our event the North East Oklahoma Chicken Stock or N. E. O. C. S. One of our daughters suggested Okie Chicken Do (do meaning event), so the abbreviation would be O. C. D. I'm not sure how many people would get that. It could be N. E. O. C. D.
Chicken Stock has double meaning, so we could play off one or both. It could be a recipe for a great time. Perhaps it's a place to get stock for your flock. I'm working on some drawings. I'll post a few this weekend and we can all vote to see if any are worth considering.
