NE Oklahoma Chicken Stock - Let's Plan!

my mom always said " i can't never did nothing " so with that beeing said POCO i will have all kinds of eggs i can bring for the egg swap

some are
RARE and some are EXTREMLY RARE and some are SHOW LINE BIRDS " witch is in no way the same as just pure breed . Hatchery birds are pure breed but will in no way compet at a show with the showline/breeder line birds " and some i just love so if you deside to have an egg swap them im all in

PS what is with all the negative thinking ???? i would love to have an egg swap and im shure that there are others that would love one also lets be the littel engen that could not" theres in no way" im sorry but im in the I CAN GROUP

Joe, you're awesome. I do completely agree with you, no way a hatchery bird is anywhere near show quality. I didn't mean you any disrespect...I know and have seen your birds...you do have great stock!

It is possible...but there are some hard questions that need to be answered...

I'm going to do some focused thinking about the rules for the egg swap. I will post those rules next Saturday, May 19th, and then we'll see if people who want to participate can agree. If you have ideas, please send me a PM or email me with those ideas. I will print out all the suggestions, evaluate the pros and cons, and come up with a single rule document that is the most fair for the most people. I think that a person who sees the rules can decide for himself or herself if the egg swap is something he or she wants to participate in. Some will not choose to participate, and that's okay. I have a few ideas I'm toying with, but to help me, I need folks with ideas to put those ideas into a PM or email.

Thanks, everybody! The closer we get to event day, the more there seems to be to do. N.E.O.C.S. is going to be a blast! Thanks for your help, suggestions, and thinking out loud. All of this will help make our day a great success.

Just my 2 cents worth...I think an egg swap is a great idea....if done within our group in that kind of setting. But since this has been made a public event with all the advertising, I agree this could be a recipe for disaster. Too many visitors attending to monitor an internal event.

Someone else mentioned it earlier, if you want to do some swapping, just go to the different tables.

I like Joe's thinking on how to separate the eggs by category....

Again this could be a great idea, but for a public event that is only a very few weeks away, perhaps this should be tabled until next year when some of the kinks could be ironed out earlier in the planning process instead of the latter...

On another note...I'll support whatever the majority decides...looking forward to a great event!
I agree with bfrancis and mefordz 100%. With very careful planning it might work, but honestly I think it's recipe for hurt feelings and resentment. Rather than a fun egg swap, it could very well turn into an egg throwing event. As bfrancis stated, I will support it also if it is decided to add the egg swap to NEOCS.

I got my canopy cover that I will be sitting under outside the barn so maybe I won't get a flying egg. LOL.

Since everyone else has thrown out their two cents here is mine. Poco you have set up a great event & from someone that has done this before, you will spend your time running the entire day & not getting alot of time to trade, swap & visit. It is possible to have too many events for the organizer & volunteer's to have any fun. That being said, this is a swap that we are attending so anyone can post a sign saying what they have to swap & do the same thing if you can't figure out a way to make everyone happy.

Looking forward to the event!

Simplicity is usually best. I really like this suggestion. Thanks!
