Nebraska State Poultry Association 128th Annual Poultry Show (2012)

Details are starting to come together for the show and have another meeting planned for Sunday evening where I'm hoping lots more questions will be answered. I'm going to continue posting information as it becomes available. I'm also working on getting a website up and running which will be kept up to date, and will be edited daily or as needed the closer we get to the show.

I believe by Sunday I will be able to post the Judges as well as some of the meets I have coming in.

Alright, I have the first round of meets that have been confirmed for the show ready to be listed, there are still quite a few more to come and are in various stages of the process that I will add once finalized.

This is the list so far:

Just a quick question... how many birds do your shows typically exhibit? I'm wondering how big it will be.
Most of the numbers from year to year will vary due to the meets, but average is about 1,200 to 1,400...but some years have been as high as 4,000. I'm still hearing back about some meets, so will continue updating as I find things out. The ad for poultry press will start in August.

yeah, bring the pullorum -typhoid paperwork with you that you will receive from your NPIP tester, that way you have them on hand if needed. NPIP reps don't announce when they are coming, they just show up, so safe than sorry is my motto when coming from out of state especially

Have they actually shown up in the past? I'm investigating getting certification but I think it may be a long process and I'm not sure it'll be done before November. I know my birds are not sick as I purchased my original stock from an NPIP approved breeding facility and none of my birds have developed this problem. No birds are dropping dead like with the Pullorum-typhoid disease.

They never announce anything and there have been in the past, but its sporadic, so never know. You don't have to have your certification to show, just need a certified tester to test your birds, and fill out the paperwork and give you a copy. That's all you need for the show.

So you're saying I don't have to have an NPIP certification number? Just proof that the birds at the show are pullorum-typhoid free? I wonder if I could find someone to do just some of my birds...

Actually, Nevada has apparently just started the NPIP program and it's $5-7 per bird to be tested and every bird under 300 birds, has to be tested. Not just for pullorum-typhoid but also for avian influenza and MG. Very pricey when you have more than 10 birds.
