Dumb question - since the medicated feed already has amprolium in it, is there a risk of overdosing when adding the same medication to the water?

i looked that up as well and medicated feed has such a small amount that there is no issue with concurrent use.

See this chart above...medicated feed usually only contains a small amount of amprolium, similar to the middle percentage above and medicated feed doesn't alway prevent coccidiosis.

I believe it is safe to administer 8 times the highest does above and still be safe but one SHOULD NOT give that much.


SO giving Corid along with a medicated feed will not cause an over dose.

One last thing, I have 2 cochen 4 month old hens outside from the same person I bought the chicks. Should I give them some of the Corid to be safe?

Could it be a teflon bulb in your heat lamp? Those give off toxic fumes. Check your bulb asap.

I was wondering if it could be the heat on the plastic bin giving off fumes. Same idea pretty much.

I haven't read thru all of the other posts yet, but if you want to keep them in the house still, you might want to use a wire dog crate... that's what I used and it worked very well. I set it on a large trash bag and brought the edges up and taped them. And also ran a piece of saran wrap around the bottom few inches to help hold the shavings inside. With the wires you can add branches for perches for them to get used to. You'd be surprised how quickly they go up as high as they can.
