The air cells are stabilizing in some of the eggs, but some are going to need help I think.

After Candling, I have 8 with veins-some have better air cells than others.I think a few of mine will need help too. A few were completely crushed in when they arrived, so Im happy to be getting any at all! Woo Hoo! Now I just hope at least 50% are Frizzled, and at least 50% of those are Hens! OMG this is a way bigger gamble than I thought!

I just found this thread, but I set my very first hatch on 2/26 too! I have a Genesis 1588, but went a little over board - too many for the turner.

I have:
12 Lavender Ameraucanas from Crystal Creek - pretty well shaken by the USPS
6 Splash Cochin X EE
7 Welsummer X EE
3 Welsummer X White AM
12 EE X EE
12 AM X EE
1 BSL X EE
5 IA Blue pullet eggs

58 total - I expect some were frozen so I expect this number to be cut down quite a bit. I've been candling a couple each night and I do believe I see veins! I guess we'll see what's what tomorrow night

when i collect eggs and they have just a little dirt that will not rub off with my finger and I do not wash mine either I have a sponge that I use for eggs only and just use the green side to lightly rub it off. OR a very low grade sandpaper. Works great

I incubate mine the way they are. they hatch without problems. I worried about smears till I watched hens incubate. sometimes their eggs get really yuckie and they hatch.
