Need advice on fertile eggs

I'll try the turner this time and if it isn't good enough, I'll try something else.

It said prime shipping on the order, but oh well. It gives me more time to collect eggs. I have 11 right now, I'm hoping to get about 20. My barred rocks eggs are small so I'm only taking 2 of hers so I'm not wasting eggs everyone can eat if the eggs have issues during incubation.

Thank you for those tips. Im putting everything in our spare room, it is pretty perfect with temperature.

Only thing I worry about in our house is my cat. Once the chicks hatch in the incubator I'm going to have to lock him out because he will definitely jump on top of it and try to get them through the windows.
I hatched a second egg from my Rhode Island whites, yeah she was a smaller chick at hatch due to egg size but in 2 days she was caught up to the others that had hatched with her almost. couldn't tell you the lady took all 4 2 day olds, that's a JFYI

Oh wow! I'll put more of hers then. I have room for 41 eggs, I have 15 right now. I think barred rock and jersey giant mix will be awesome, they're my two favorite chicken breeds.

I think barred rock and jersey giant mix will be awesome,
If barred hen and black (or any solid darker color) sire... all chicks hatched from that will be sex linked with female chicks being solid colored and male chicks having a white spot on their head. When grown the females will stay solid and the males will be barred. :ya

If a sex linked and black Jersey giant mate... will the chicks be able to be sexed?

No, not at all by an amateur. I think only vent sexing would still be accurate.

Sex links do not breed true or sex link the next generation offspring.

Only the chicks from the barred hen will be sex linked and so you might want to be able to keep them separate like a little hatching basket tray since all other that are pure black from your crosses will not be sex linked and some could likely be male... making it impossible to tell which are sex linked females for sure. :)

Oh boy this sounds like a task :gigI can tell the barred rocks eggs from everyone else because they're pinkish. The sex links are brown and the Delaware lays cream. I plan on keeping a few for myself as layers and selling the rest as straight run then keeping what no one wants for meat chickens.

I'm hoping to get more from the barred rock before the incubator arrives, her eggs are just small so I only keep the medium ones to hatch. I don't feel like the smaller ones would be a good idea.
