Need Emu hatching Advice ASAP

From the looks of the picture, I would say, if you did decide to free the chick.... I would go up and to the left. Away from the blood vessels, with an aim to take the cap off.... But like you said earlier, it is generally a last resort kind of thing.... but I have done it successfully more often than not, once I learned not to wait too long.... of course, with an EMU, who knows what is too long.... but like others have said.... pay attention to the vigor of the chick.... if it looks like it is winding down or not moving, I would break it out. Sometimes it does not take a lot..... a couple of bites out of the shell with a tweezer and that bird might be able to finish the job.

Can you tell me how long is normal for an emu to hatch? is this bordering into "too long" territory?

I will pay attention to his energy levels, thank you. This is so stressful!

The only help i could find:

"A second pip of the outer shell will expose the beak and one foot. With a push, the second foot and spine will fracture the shell and release the chick fully breathing and able to stand in only a few hours."

I did watch a video on youtube of hatching emus but i cant remember what it was called it was something about safety holes though.

Yes 8 hours sounds about right, and I thought I read on here that it can take days sometimes? I wish I knew for sure!

Also, yes I watched that video... Hmm.. Not sure if applies here though since he has externally pipped already. Appreciate it!
