Need Emu hatching Advice ASAP

Hi guys, Egg A has externally pipped yesterday around 10am (so about 21 hours ago)
He has a one inch hole and I see a toe, and a beak, but he isn't really trying that hard to do anything since then.

How long can this take? (Why is there precious little info on the internet?!) Should I put a damp cloth over him if the membrane has dried out? (But with Emu the membrane is supposed to be dried, no?)

I'm just really worried!! But I don't want to help because I know helping is a last resort!

ETA: Egg A was the one that lost the least amount of weight, just hitting over 12% the day before yesterday!

UGH I* wish some of the pros were online, I'm so scared now! I took him out and it seemed like where he has his hole, the shell is sharp and causing him to bleed a tiny bit. So I removed a TINY piece of the shell less than the size of my pinkie nail to see if that might stop him from rubbing on this one sharp piece, and the piece I removed had a bit of blood on it. I put some damp paper towel on the exposed white membrane to dampen it again and I put him back

I AM SO SCARED RIGHT NOW!!!!

Any advice appreciated!!!

I have no experience with EMUs.... however a bird is likely a bird.... does the chick seem pretty vigorous? Sometimes I break them out of their shell..... it can be tricky. There are blood vessels...... if you think he might not be able to get loose then I would say break him out. Sometimes they start pipping and never get any further..... When I do decide to break a chick out, I try to just make it easier for the chick to escape on it's own..... break off the upper parts to give it air and encourage it to fight.... There are blood vessels, between the yolk, the membrane and the chicks umbilicus area.... I try to stay well clear of any blood vessels which is not always as easy as saying. Good luck.

The chick seems the same as yesterday, he is chirping a bit in there, and moving around a bit especially when i take him out and talk to him. I just can't find any information on how long this CAN or SHOULD take, and I don't know if the one foot poking out means he's actually stuck? I will work on posting a pic.

I'm afraid to help any further. I'd hate to do it wrong!!

I never hatched emu eggs but I have hatched duck and chicken eggs. Chicken eggs can sit at the pipped stage for 24 hours and I have had ducks go for 48 hours and still hatch. I would assume an emu egg would be similar. Keep on eye on him, if he is moving and chirping then he is probably alright, if he starts to slow down and doesn't respond much then you might want to start to help him by opening the egg.

I've hatched chickens, ducks, quail, and turkey, but never emu. Most are basically the same, but there are some key differences, which is why I tried to tag some with specific emu experience.

This is Pyxis's thread, we followed along with her hatch, asked many questions along the way. If you have time, you could scan thru some of it. I'm nervous to try to advise on this particular hatch, but in general, you kinda have to trust your gut.
Oh, and use Vaseline or coconut oil, instead of water to moisten the membrane if necessary. Don't get the shell wet with water.
