This one when tiny and putting a broiler pan under with a pee pad over the metal then the waterer on top really helps keep the mess Down then 2nd pic is when they are older and taller.

Excellent! Will this technique work as a feeder too?
We typically use a small chick feeder for the first week or two then we give them a pyrex glass bowl that is heavier and holds more so they don't knock it over as much. From my experiences ducks are a mess really no matter what you do, but you can limit some of it with waterer like miss Lydia has, we use simply a cleaned like sour cream container with a hole they can dunk heads and not get in, then once bigger we upgrade to a milk jug with an appropriate sized hole in the side and height for them when they get bigger to not have to fill water every couple hours.

Hi All,

Getting 1 Cayuga and 2 Pekin ducklings from Metzer Farms next week.

Please share:

I have a clip-on heat lamp, and brewers yeast, Any other suggestions???

Thanks!
We have more chickens then ducks so we have always fed them chicken feed and they have been healthy. One thing I want to mention since your getting ducklings that they will need oatmeal in their diet if they are not going to have access to bugs and grass. They can develope angel wing otherwise.
To be honest with you ducks are SO very messy! From hatched to adult lol they LOVE water- and drink it constantly. But beware- ducklings can and will drown in to much water. I learned the hard way. So I would use a chick waterer at first until they won't drown. But they are going to be messy irregardless. They are terribly messy. I don't do them inside any more because of how messy they are. I wait until summer when I can put them straight in the coop lol
Good luck! Ducks eat more bugs then chickens and don't do property damage like chickens.
