Need hatching buddy! Setting 5 duck and 5 hen eggs Sat 1/16

Don't worry about finding homes for the chicks, that's easy. lol It's deciding whether or not you want to sell/give them away and which ones!

I'll probably p/up a small humidifier, put it near the LG and see if that does the trick. I'm really curious about dry incubation and after drowning my
first batch of eggs want to try without fear of repeating my mistakes.
BTW check out craigslist periodically "farm and garden" in NH, you'll get a good sense of what is selling and what everyone is looking for-too many chicks won't be a problem.

Oops! Forgot to add dryness status quo here, too. Wish I had a safe, out of the way spot in my laundry room. Maybe if the humidity stays up you'd want to take out a plug/open a vent? 40-45% is a goal for many on here, though the thread mentioned earlier at 37% sounds compelling.

Day 2. My humidity is either 42% or 21%. I put a tablespoon of water in, its 42. It dries up, it's 21. I think I'll just stick with the 42 for now. Can I take the cap off the top to help with the humidity? I still want that 38%!

As far as thermometers, I have 4. 2 digitals, one glass, and one spotcheck. The spotcheck is wrapped inside a baggy of water. It shows a half a degree difference each time I turn it on. I don't think that's right. One digital reads lower, 99.3, and one digital reads 99.7-99.9 and the glass one reads 99.9. So I think I'm taking 2 out.

Humidity is at 45% I dont know if thats good
I did candle one egg. I saw veins! WOO HOOO
I put it back and closed the lid.

My 1st hatch....in the incubator Friday afternoon (1/15). Have 3 Salmon Faverolles, 4 Cuckoo Marans, 4 Black Australop, and 8 Buff Orpington. Got them off a bid on ebay. Only bid on the B/O and Faverolles the others were bonus. So I guess I am on day 4?

Same with me, I have chickens but this is my first hatch too. I candelled a random egg last night and saw veins so i also think this is working! lol
