Need help identifying skin condition!

My barred rock Tanya Harding has a dry patch just north and to the side of her tail feathers. She’s laying, eating, and drinking. She’s top of the pecking order and no one messes with her ever. I have six hens, no roos and I’ve sat out here hanging out and observing them so I know she’s not being pecked. I sure would appreciate it if anyone knew what the heck is up. Thank you so much!

There seems to be some broken off feathers. Perhaps she is pecking herself? I am not an expert on anything.

I was thinking it’s a preening thing. Her skin is so dry.

Has she been molting recently? How old is she? A mild oil or lotion could be applied to the dry area and it will likely also help to prevent pecking.

She’s almost 7 months old. Now another one has a spot, only smaller, in the same exact place (Rexi). All but one now have droopy butt fluff. I’m very worried now.

The one that doesn't might be the one (feather)pecking the others.

Perhaps spend some time with them observing to find out.

Regarding the dry skin: What exactly are you feeding? They might suffer from a lack of animal protein and fat.

They’re fed layer feed, black sunflower seeds, mealworms, grapes, blueberries, and scratch.
