Hi!
It's me again! Could you please try to help me?
My 1 yr old wyandotte hen is acting very odd. Sleepy , watery poop, watery/ seed filled crop and smelly poop, eyes closed . Any advice?
ever since her molt she has been 4 pounds and is still at 4 pounds. Doesn't want too eat any more.
She was keeping herself too the side as well. I checked her for eggs, and nothing, looked around her vent and body and don't see anything.
I'm keeping her inside in a dark quiet place:)

Edit: We just had cold snap hit yesterday and now we are hitting the 40Fs in the night and possible 30s over the next week.
Thank you for your help!

How does her breath smell?
Squishy like she is full of water. Thank you for replying!
Sounds most like sour crop. I always start with massaging the crop gently to try and encourage it to empty and flush out. Some people induce vommiting but to me that is a last resort since it can cause aspiration. Sour crop is actually a fungal infection, so the best way to treat it is with anti-fungals (preferably something like Fluconazole or something you can get from a vet, but apple cider vinegar is also an option) and probiotics (sups and yogurt work well). I’d add the ACV to her water still even if you decide to use a different anti-fungal.

She doesn't smell like she has sour crop. I gave her yogurt and it seemed to help her.
We think it is coccidiosis so I treated her with Corid and she is now more active.

I’m so sorry, CC. I would lean towards a crop issue, also. Hopefully the experts can give you some great advice and your girl can get on the road to recovery.

It couldn’t hurt to try crop massages with some coconut oil or acv along with the corid, just in case.

You could rule out coccidiosis and worms if your vet could do a fecal float. Most of the time coccidiosis affects young chicks up to 20 weeks. Reproductive disorders, worms, or other things may cause a crop slow down. Is her crop squishy first thing it the morning before eating or drinking? It won’t hurt to treat with Corid, but won’t help other issues.

yes, it was squishy this morning. She had blood in her poop when I last checked her. It seems like the Corid is helping her a lot. I did massage her crop and it is more empty now.

If the crop is squishy and full of water, I'd treat as sour. The article below will walk you through treatment.

Corid won't hurt, but if you are seeing blood in the poop, getting a fecal float is a good idea.
She's mature, so Coccidiosis is a possibility, but has she been dewormed?
