Please help! My 15 month old ameraucana chick is bleeding from the eye area. She doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain and we just saw a hawk fly away. All other chickens are safe. How can we clean her up?

Can you post pictures? That would help a lot.
Clean the are well being careful not to scratch the eye or get anything in it. You can use a soft cloth with warm water on it to clean her fluff and keep her under a heat lamp so she stays warm while she dries off.
I don’t think it is a good idea to leave young chicks out without total supervision. They should be in a run so they stay safe.
Good luck!

Her under-eye area is swelling up a little but I think it's just because she's getting blood in her eye.The eye itself looks fine thankfully

Do you have some artificial tears, saline eye drops? Flush the eye with the saline. Then dab on some triple antibiotic ointment. You can put it directly in the eye. Do that for a few days, and she should heal.

If a hawk attacked, she may be in shock, so give her electrolytes to help stabilize her. If she's withdrawn, she needs a quiet, sheltered, safe spot to recover.

Oh I didn’t realize she was so old. Doesn’t look bad at all. Just clean her up gently and keep it clean, maybe put some veteracyn on it.

she looks tough! i agree with what everyone else is saying. a warm damp cloth to clean the affected area, be careful not to rub as that may re-open or further aid to her injury. i recommend access water on the cloth and a light dabbing of the area till and caked blood comes of by dissolving rather than wiping. oh and if there is a visible clot on the surface of the wound, i recommend leaving it as that is the bodies natural reaction. good luck with your girl!

If she scratched her cornea she will need veterinary care to save they eye. Otherwise flush it with saline solution (Contact lens flush/wetting solution works well) and apply Terramycin ointment to the eyes twice daily for seven days.

If you don't see an improvement in two days contact a veterinarian.

Good luck!
