I would use the cotton, but not tying dental floss around the toe, or it could possibly cut off circulation. Even Kleenex tissue held against a bleeding wound for a few minutes while holding her and just hanging out will usually stop bleeding. The more upset she is, and the more struggling involved, the more they can bleed. I have had chickens bleed from broken blood feathers, from being pecked on the combs, and other injuries, but never had one keep on bleeding.

She laid, very relaxed, on my lap and didn't struggle at all. I set up a lounge chair into a little tent for her to stay in temporarily, with towels, an old feed bag, and puppy pads under her. I'll also be giving her water. I plan to return her to the coop when it gets dark.

I used flour on my rooster with a bloody feather. It worked, it did bleed a lot but then stopped.

Angel, If that happens again pluck the feather. Hold the skin down on each side and pull it out. broken feathers will stop bleeding right away.

No typo there we used it to glue surgeries closed first use was in Vietnam

A steptic pencil will work if the cut is not large - can be found at the dollar store. Hope that helps!

Kwik Stop Styptic Powder will stop the bleeding. I use it when I clip our dogs nails a little to short. Used it for parrots also. Toilet paper will also stop a small cut like your hen has.

Super glue, crazy glue, whatever you want to call it-works very well on small, fresh, (as in clean and uninfected) cuts.
Get the bleeding to stop first.
No Neosporin or any other ointments or it won't work.
Approximate the sides of the booboo with a pair of tweezers or your fingers, and place just a drop on the line. Make sure it's gently "pinched shut". Hold it, the chicken and your fingers still while it dries. It should hold it. I'd wait a few minutes and then apply another drop.
Don't over do it though. This is a "less is more" situation. Too much, it won't dry properly and won't hold or you'll wind up with your tweezers or your fingers or both, stuck to a chicken.
Should be healed before the glue sloughs off in several days to a week.

Corn starch it and let it be, to much cleaning will keep it bleeding. Just let it run around somewhere where the others wont peck at it until it stops. It will be just fine!
My chickens have caught a toe nail on something and tore it off and they are all good now.
