Need help, unsure what breed this duckling is [IMG heavy]

She looked Muscovy when she was a baby.
Now she's getting black and brown feathers like a juvenile mallard.
She only had the one stripe in the back of here eye and not in the front, so I assumed she was a scovy.

Here is a pic when she was a week old:

Halion, those thick legs indicate a muscovy cross to me. Also, the shape of where the bill meets the forehead also says muscovy. But, I could be wrong.

I'm thinking she is a Muscovy. The feathers on her back are a black iridescent color instead of a brown like a juvenile mallard would have. I've been looking at a ton of pics on Flickr of the juveniles and I myself see 100% muscovy down to every little detail, but I am no expert. She is my first duckling and hopefully not my last!

Does anyone think the white ring around the neck might mean it's a male? Or is there a reason that might not be the case?

when my male was a youngster he had a white ring around his neck also, excuse the whale hahahaa! so i would think that he/she will turn out to be male. (the one in the middle)

So it's been a few weeks since the last time I've posted in this topic. I have recently gotten a Muscovy male that looks the exact same as my tame duck Peking. The ring around her neck is disappearing in the back.

This is the drake:

This is Peking (duck in question):

Do you guys still think she's a mix? I'd hate to have to get a permit to keep her.

In Florida, you need a Class III no-cost permit to keep a Mallard or anything with Mallard in it. With pure Muscovies you don't need one. It's just a pain in the butt to apply for one. Plus the wildlife commission comes out to check how they're housed and what they're being fed. I don't like my privacy being invaded.

Based on size (even know it might have come from scovy) it could have been a RouenxScovy cross in which you wouldn't need a permit. besides the probability of a Rouen mating with a scovy i would think would be higher than a scovy mating with a mallard based on overall size difference. you never know

Huh, I was told a permit was needed for all Mallard derived breeds including Mallard crosses. She's 7 weeks old and almost the size of the drake. She feels like she's 4 lbs. I wish I had a scale to weight her.

Im in florida as well. I lookied into the permit and know people who have them. I was told the same. Even if it is a cross it has to have a permit because it still has mallard in it. I decided agenst the permit for the same reason. I like my privacy and do not want check ups. Plus I know someone who got the permit and 2 weeks later they took all her ducks

I have 2 indoor ducks along with my 3 outdoor. So im pretty sure they would want my indoor ducks.
