Need help with my chickens crop ASAP

I’ll try take one of her, yes and I have stopped i only did it once to help her, also no foul smell and they live in a bedroom with the windows open and sawdust and they eat growers pellets, also no access to grit.

The best I can get, I don’t want to hurt her

Give her olive oil/pedialyte and massage her crop if it is hard and full.

you have to flood her crop with fluids, so that the hard mass inside her crop will break down and slip into her digestive tract.

give her olive oil/pedialyte two times a day (for example, in the morning and before bed) and massage for a few minutes.

you will probably have to do this for a few days….But this has always helped me when my hens had an impacted crop!!

Also, please get some grit for your hens! It is essential to avoiding this problem. Chickens must have grit so that can digest food correctly

good luck 🙂

Thank you so much! I got them off my sons grandma who has a farm full of them and she didn’t mention grit so I wasent aware! Also where would I get pedialyte from or can I just give her olive oil?

You can get pedialyte at any grocery store, in the baby section.

I always get the strawberry flavored pedialyte, since chickens looove those berries!
Pedialyte will help your chicken stay hydrated, even though she/he is not drinking by themselves.

Just remember: Don’t give too much of the pedialyte. Only give it to your chicken twice a day. It has sugar in it, and an overdose of sugar can be detrimental to any chicken!
Lots of olive oil is fine though, it will help lubricate the crop and its contents, so that it will slip into the digestive system.

Okay thank you, also she is eating and drinking, does that change anything? Should I stop giving her food or not?

I would wait on all that to see if there actually is a problem. Withhold food and water overnight - the crop should be empty and flat in the morning. During the day it’s normal for a chicken to have a full crop - the pics are hard to see but it doesn’t look concerning. Wait until there’s been 0 food and water intake for at least 8’hours - crop should be empty and flat. I would absolutely NOT massage or do anything to the crop until you figure out if there’s a problem or if you’re just unaware of chicken anatomy and how things work.
Also, why are they in your bedroom? Are you planning on taking them outside? They are old enough to be outside where they have access to grass, sunlight, dust for bathing and bugs. In your home, they’ll just end up eating your carpet and ingesting things they shouldn’t bc they want to be outside. A healthy chicken is an outdoor chicken - yours don’t need supplemental heat - they need to go outside.

Yeah I was planning on putting them outside last week but I’ve ended up minding my mums dog so I’ve held off for a week, they will be going outside on Monday, also they have atleast 2 hours a day on rhe grass to chicken around😂
