Well, today was NOT a good day for PIG. I took him to the vet, and had his....manhood removed. WOW!!!!!!! The screaming!! The BLOOD!!! OMG...I was in shock.....brought him home...he went straight to his crate and just GLARED at me! LOL
Poor pig.
I just checked on him, he is up, and eating, the bleeding has stopped. Whew! That was interesting...I thought my 24 yr old son was going to cry. He tried to feed the pig a few dog treats, and of course PIG wouldnt eat them, he was pset and in pain. My son just looked at me and said...poor "Stewie, look what YOU did to him" I feel slaughter is going to be really tough on my son! LOL
Great lesson in life and Gods purpose for animals. My sister raised 2 4-H pigs when we were younger. They were bought at auction by Hatfield, she refused to eat anything they made for 2 years but she knew their purpose.
My friends put cardboard boxes, old magazines and phonebooks in their pigs' pen to recycle it into bedding. The pigs loved playing with it, tearing it all up and then it became bedding. it makes the pen look junky though.
They put lots and lots of bedding in their pen (2 feet deep) because pigs love to dig down with their nose and root around. Some people use pgs to till up garden space for the following year.
If you have acorns, pigs love to eat those. Also can you get large amounts of whey from a dairy or cheese-making place nearby? Pigs can live on whey and milk if it's cheap for you to get.
