need help with treating REALLY bad quail wounds

heres a short update: he started drinking this morning. hes a lot more active than he was yesterday, but is still not looking so great. he managed to open one of his eyes and he uses it to peek at me from his lil quarantine cage on my desk. i cleaned his wound with slightly warm salt water and added a little neosporin to it :)

Sounds good. Make sure that the Neosporin doesn't contain pain killers. Some of those are toxic to birds.

Button quail do best in pairs, unlike coturnix, which do best with about 5 hens per roo.
about the grouping, i am aware, but i've been keeping them in a group for a few months and everything has been fine besides the pecking at girls. he didnt even peck at the calmer roo, just at certain hens lol
As @Nabiki stated best kept in pairs. There are always a few exceptions to this, but as you have found out you never know when things can get bad. Usually better to not have to deal with these problems if possible.

i dont have the space for multiple small cages. i'd prefer keeping them in pairs, but im working with what i have :) i also notice that my girls crow a lot when i have tried pairing them off, even if i switch the males up
