Need some creative advice....

I got a real fancy feeder:

the gals hated this thing with the cover on so I used it without and they made a mess:

So I cut down a cardboard box which proved to be perfect:

When they mature they graduated to the rubber pan and still use it today:

For some reason they never flipped over the box or the rubber pan.

A creep-feeder for chicks - what a great idea. If you use one of those clear plastic shoe storage boxes, they'd be able to see it and you'd be able to clean it. As long as it doesn't make your hen mad that she can see it but not reach it....

I've noted that with broody mamas, they like to teach the children to scratch, not get the food out of the feeders. She is just doing her job; so I put chick feed in two different feeders and toss some in the pen where the mom can scratch and teach as she wishes. Seems to work for me.
