Good morning,
I hope you got some restful sleep.
It's important that you take care of yourself so that you can take of Emily.
You are getting good advice here. Let's hope your girl feels a bit better.
I agree with other posters.
Yes, give the Tylan TWICE each day.
Don't worry about making up for the two days where she only had one dose.
If you see improvement in a few days, you could add on an extra day or two at the end of her course of treatment.
Please let us know if the Epsom salt soak seems to bring her any relief. Having everything in place helps a lot and can make the event less chaotic.
Gather up 3-4 bath towels and the Epsom salts, and put a stool or chair by the sink before you get the chicken.
I've had to bathe a few of my chickens. They looked surprised at first, then enjoyed it thoroughly.
I used my kitchen sink and just scrubbed it out good both before and after.
Sit and chat with her while she's in there!
I am in agreement with the person above who suggested that you attempt to aspirate this mass yourself to see if it is indeed a pocket of abscess fluid.
If there's a scab, removing it and applying gentle pressure may give the fluid in there a way to exit the body.
You would undoubtably need an assistant to achieve the needle aspiration method, hopefully you have a friend or family member who's brave like you!
If nothing comes out, then you'll know that it is in fact a growth or tumor of some sorts and not infection.
Best wishes today.
Let's hope for some improvement.
