I picked up a teapot/kettle in an auction lot and would like to know what it says.

Here is the phrase:

En vaktad kittel blir aldrig brand (there is an umlaut over the "a" in brand)

That's a direct translation but it probably means don't put it on a heat source like a fire or stove top.

Translation in second post is "A guard cauldron will never fire". Maybe it's like saying "A watched pot never boils"?

Be wary of online translators. They may be able to give the gist of something, but often take things out of context and often choose nouns over verbs or adjectives.

Ex. "I can fly" in Spanish is Yo puedo volar but if you plug that into an online translator it will say Yo lata mosca--I can (like a tin can) fly (insect)

That sentence makes sense (Swedish to English), so it's probably one of the better ones

I used to teach Spanish and students would often try to take the easy way out by using internet translators. The mistakes are very consistent and easy to spot, especially since high schoolers are overfond of "get" and "-ing". The former has no direct translation in Spanish, the latter is not used as often and usually the present tense is used.

Ex. I got a CD for my birthday use "I received a CD for my birthday."

I got a translation of "a guarded sea will never fire". I would believe that is our common phrase. "A watched pot will not boil".
