Need suggestions for a care package for a soldier!

I haven't sent my care package out to my adopted soldier, yet. But I've put in so far, socks, undies, and shirts, some hard candy, and I was looking for more ideas, too. Totally forgot about card games and what-not

My soldier is in afaghanistan, too. And my husband is somewhere under the water...

I'd say comic books and magazines are a good idea, and maybe i'll bake some cookies now, too. My soldier said he likes birds and said he used to have two ducks, and two chicks, so maybe I'll send a few pics of Chickpea just for kicks

Good luck with your adopted soldiers and families everyone. It's nice to see the support everyone is giving to eachother.

I sent my cousin a set of new twin sheets... he LOVED it.... i dont think they have many sheets for their beds over their...or something..

I also sent him other stuff..but the sheets were a hit..
OOh he also wanted canned goods... beefaroni.... raviolis... chef boyardee stuff... i guess the guys like them for a quick meal on the road.
I also sent bug spray (not aerosol cans.. they can explode in travel..) and flea collars.(i guess the guys wear them on their ankles and wrists?...to help keep the fleas off of them ..).. i guess the sand fleas can be bad over there where he was. **i'd ask him before you send him bug stuff though..he may not need it where he is..and he'll think your nuts when he gets a flea collar in his box...lol**
also.. powdered drink mixes..koolaide(the kind with the sugar already added.) ...tang....whatever.. so they can flavor their water...
and energy drinks.(red bull..etc..). they all wanted them...
any kind of little hand held games...send with extra batteries...

ETA:... i agree..books and magazines are probably much needed over there....

Dont forget most of their meals are those horrible ready to eat meals. so they would enjoy anything "real" Beef jerky is always a hit I made my son a big bag of chex mix and he loved it. Its getting very hot in Iraq so remember not to send chocolate I alway put everything into gallon sized bags that way they have them for other things as well. Try to send chips in the cans not bags as they can and will get crushed. I send alot of movies over to my son. They can get the bootleg copies but they arent very good so he likes to receive them. He also gets a subscription to car magazines sent directly there. Socks are very high on the list. A good foot powder too

When my son was in Iraq he wanted Pop Tarts and cheese puffs. Of course we sent along lots of other stuff..... one of the biggest hits was the dvd's (movies) we picked up on the cheap from a pawn shop. Lots of great titles at really great prices. He would watch them and pass them on to the other guys and gals to keep them distracted during the little down time they had..... seems like there was always someone with a laptop to play them on....

my bro in afghanistan asked for deodarant, beef jerky, tuna, torillas, beans, juice boxes, powered gatoraide, powder or non wash off shampoo (you can get it at a sally's beauty supply) foot power, sun flower seeds, gum, baby whipes, canned chicken, canned fruit, things of that nature
