This morning moving some boxes, I got a splinter underneath my fingernail. Very painful, nothing to grab hold of and pull, it's firmly under there.
I wonder if someone knows of a PAINLESS way to remove these things?

1. I do not have black drawing salve...need some, but not here.
2. Did I mention I don't like pain?

Thanks!

Ouch!

I think I recall hearing something about heat to pull them out? Maybe a warm bread poultice?

Cut your nail down as far as you can and then see if you can get someone to help you with twezzers or a sewing needle to get it out. My mom and i use to help each other with this. Trust me it is better if someone helps so you dont have to look. Also peroxicide helps us in see where it is and helps to get it out.

ok. i trimmed it nearly to the quick...that little burr is stuck! gah!!
currently have my finger stuck inside a potato...was told it draws. may add heat to it...cause it's not moving.

and thank you!

Can you squeeze your finger and then it will pop out a bit....Then have somebody grab it with tweezers........

Or I could bring over my chainsaw......hehehe (I am kidding....)

Ok this is what I've done, Take a bowl of hot water as hot as you can comfortably stand it. soak it for about 15 to 20 minutes. Dry your finger off and rub a little dollop of numbing medicine like oragel or teething medicine and let it sit for a few minutes, pull it out with tweezers. If it still stings add another dollop of the oragel.

Vic's vapor rub. Put a dollop over the splinter and cover with bandaid. Leave overnight. Splinter should be able to squeeze out the next day if it doesn't come out on its own. Occasionally for REALLY deep ones I've had to do it twice.
