 Needing advice on feed!

Also,I know im nota liar.I had false information, sorry.
I guess you can lear a little bit from the elders.
Now medicated chick feed CAN cause ducks to ill out.Or even kill them.
I really appreciate everyone's input, including your's, but I am VERY protective over my babies and really any chickens so I never speak out of "well I think this is right so you should do this too." I just give my opinion on what works best for me, and if you think corn causes this and you refuse to use it, that's your call! But just make sure you do lots of healthy research, that has actual facts about what is best or our feather kids!

We want what's best for THEM, not what is cheapest and best for us!

Thank you everyone for the information!

Do they eat 1/4 of feed per day per chicken? I saw that somewhere, but am not sure. Should I feed them once a day?

I am new and will be getting them in the spring but I want to know everything I can before hand. I just ordered the book Keeping Chickens.

I think chicks need fed twice a day(unkess free eanged).
My agults hens eat 1scoop every morning. Then they may get middle of the day treats.
Over feeding may make them fat and caise issue.

Babies should have free access to food at all times, once they are fully feathers and out in the run you can ration but still twice a day unless you give them enough in the morning to last the whole day with scraps or free ranging

They would have to be some big scraps for a chicken to choke on them.
With a short Esophagus and a Crop choking would be slim to none.

The easiest and in my opinion the best way to feed the average backyard flock is to full feed.
Just go out in the morning and fill there feeders up and recheck them in the evening.
Chickens are very good at regulating the amount of feed they need, and they also eat to fill a caloric need meaning that the chances are very slim that they will over eat as long as they are on a complete feed ration. I could say to feed X amount of feed to X amount of chickens but it will do you no good unless you are feeding the same feed as I do and raise the exact same breed an line that I do.

Chicks can,bigger ones possibly.
My EE has choked on bread,im sure chicks can choke on scraps.
